DINAFON 2014

Frequently asked questions

Funding

Can I get some form of finacial aid from Brazilian research foundations to participate in this meeting?

If you are a faculty member or a graduate student in any graduate program funded by CAPES, you can request travel funds from your own university. Researchers from foreign institutions are not eligible for short term travel grants from Brazilian agencies (but see Travel and Venue page for long term research grant opportunities).

Cost of airfare

Will the airfare prices be affected by the Soccer World Cup?

Certainly, but, as Dinafon 2014 will take place almost two months later, travel costs will probably be back to normal by then. A good tip is to buy your ticket with a discount dealer as soon as you decide to attend the meeting. If you intend to use mileage, please inquire about it as soon as possible.

Cost of living

What are the average daily expenses with food and accommodation in Campinas?

With modest accommodations you can live in Campinas with around US$ 60 a day. Take a look at the Travel and Venue page.

Dinafon stands for Dinâmica Fônica, i.e., speech dynamics, and expresses the research interests of a group of phonologists/phoneticians directed by Eleonora Albano.
